Dive Education

Rescue Diver
S$520 (P. Dayang); S$540 (P. Tioman)

'Rewarding and fun' – that best describes the PADI Rescue Diver course. This course will expand your knowledge and experience level: Rescue Divers learn to look beyond themselves and consider the safety and well being of other divers. Although this course is serious, it is an enjoyable way to build your confidence.

Course Philosophy

The Rescue Diver courses’ philosophy is based upon the fact that there are several possibilities to achieve a goal. The structure of the course reflects this with a situational curriculum i.e. size and strength of the rescuer in comparison to the victim and environmental conditions will affect the preferred rescue technique.
During your training you will be encouraged to try several options to learn how to make best use of your personal strengths and to discover your own limits.

PADI Rescue Divers are qualified to:

  • Apply rescue and first aid techniques required in scuba diving
  • Manage diving emergencies
  • Continue their training to PADI Master Scuba Diver or PADI Divemaster

Course Structure

  • Preparation
You must obtain your PADI Rescue Diver manual with a brief description of how to use it from Blue Reef Scuba.

  • Knowledge development (day 1 & 2)
Your instructor will provide you with all of the information you need by using a video and verbal presentation. Finally you will be asked to sit the written multiple choice exam which consists of 60 questions. You need to answer 75% of the questions correctly to pass, most of our students reach 90+%.
  • Exercises
In the relaxed and stress free environment of our swimming pool you will practice 10 exercises from ‘Tired diver on the surface’ to salvage operations from boat or shore for non responding divers.
  • Rescue scenarios
The four required rescue scenarios are conducted in conjunction with dive trip to west Malaysia or local water. Here we will summarize everything you have learnt during the last two days in the classroom and swimming pool. We will try to make it look as realistic as possible so that you can demonstrate your readiness and awareness as a Rescue Diver.
